Giveaway winner!

Apologies for the late draw but the last fortnight here has been 'interesting'.
I'm not friends with Mr Random so I put the name slips into a bowl and DD12 drew it for me.

The winner is Ta-Daaaaa......

Suzie of Millikins who said:

My DH cooks the meat on the BBQ although my DS are starting to take over saying DH overcooks the meat. I make the salads and usually end up being the one to clean up as well.
Congrats Robyn on your 2 year anniversary. I also am a very occasional blogger.

With the overcast weather here lately I only have decent photos of the apron to show so here it is. It is reversible and does have a "gender bend" to it, but that is so anyone can wear it :). The pockets are lined double ones so you could pretty much carry the sauce bottles and cutlery in there.

My thanks to Ink and Spindle for the original free apron pattern and directions, that I’ve added my tweaks to. I’ve had it for over a year though and the link no longer works but if you visit their blog you can find out when their open studio days (Melbourne, Victoria) are or browse the shop.

Hopefully I'll be able to photograph the potholder, oven glove and grocery bag in natural light before I post them as the interior lights give them a yellow or blue cast depending on the original colour :(.

Cheers,
Robyn

Giveaways!

Just a reminder that my blog anniversary giveaway ends tonight so I hope you've entered!
Apologies for no photo yet but it's been dull and rainy and the photos look awful, and using the flash makes it worse :(.

If you'd like to try your luck winning a layer cake of lovely summery Sassy by Sandy Gervais then pop over to Samelia's Mum as Anorina is giving one away to help us celebrate her birthday :D. You need to be a follower and tell her "What reminds you of Summer"? This closes on the 26th January 2012.

Cheers,
Robyn

Final swap from 2011...ho, ho ho

My swapee has arrived home and opened her swap so I can now show it on my blog and it won't matter if she sees it!

This swap was another Our Craft Forum one and it was the Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas one where you could make your partner anything but it had to be a Christmas theme. As my partner Anorina is a brilliant quilter I was a bit embarrassed to make anything quilted, though I know she wouldn't be judgemental - I'm just not a great quilter (yet) - so I decided that an apron was in order as I make good aprons.
Of course, being me, I wasn't happy with the straightforward pattern so I changed it by decorating the bottom and the pockets. The bottom was easy but the pockets had to be cut differently to allow the decoration and I french seamed the join so there were no unravelly bits on the inside. The little pleats behind allow more room in the pockets. It's a generous size and the ties are also long.
Lol, it looks boxy as I had to tie it around a wooden chair to take the photo!

I finally opened the parcel I was sent from Elly, as this was a down the line swap, and she made me a lovely Christmas table runner and sent a quilt label too. This is the first quilted table runner I own :). It will definitely be on the table next Christmas.

The giveaway hasn’t closed yet if you want to enter.

Cheers,
Robyn

My 366 Day Photo challenge has moved...

so check out the reason why by clicking on the labelled page. I will still be posting pics of the regular creations and any photos that aren't the 'chosen pic' for the challenge here though. Lol, the challenge pics won't always be the best but they will be what I was aiming to catch on camera at the time and my challenge blog will probably only go for this year but this blog is my ongoing one. Note the new button in the right side bar to take you to my challenge blog and don't forget the main challenge button above it to direct you to other blogs participating in it.

Cheers,

Robyn

Free Motion Quilting

Today I found Sew Cal Gal’s Free Motion Quilting Challenge. I've been fluffing around and saying I should try this for ages as I've only stitched in the ditch and quilted in straight lines with a walking foot. The funny thing is when I bought my machine I not only received the walking foot as a freebie I also received the FMQ foot so I've had this tool for my sewing machine sitting around as a decoration for  ummmm..... oh dear, this is sad...just over 4 years!!
So now I'm signed up and I thought I'd start following this month's tutorial tomorrow morning before my brain is cluttered with other stuff. I keep telling myself that I won't know if I can do it unless I try.
Anyone else care to join us just click on the button on the right sidebar.

My giveaway is still open if you’d care to comment.

Cheers,
Robyn

Last Swaps from 2011

Here's the photos of what I received from my swap partners in end of year swaps at Our Craft Forum.

This stripey bag was from Guiliana in the Down on the Farm Swap. See the little embroidered tractor and the windmill? I sent her these egg cosies.

Jeanette sent me all these items for the Mystery Swap. I felt so spoilt! It was a down the line swap so Jeanette sent to me and I sent these to Shirley.

If you're looking for the giveaway it's the previous post.

Cheers,
Robyn
